And for two weeks this time!We had the chance to sculpt Lucy again but this time for two weeks in a row (featuring the same contra postral pose).<br />
It was a really nice excersise. I must say that on this sculpture Chris did fix some proportions I got wrong and did teach me a lot more stuff! It was epic!<br />
Thank you Chris!<br />

A body builder one.<br />
She had very well defined muscles all over her body.<br />
I found this very hard to sculpt (not really sure why since all the main landmarks were there).<br />
And I'm not happy with the result! :D<br />

This is the result of my first attempt.<br />
It cannot be compared to the awesome results of the other artists.. but still is a beginning :P<br />

Hooray I'm on holiday! So it's time to do some CG.... -___-"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Taking my<a href="http://rasterxtrusions.blogspot.com/2011/05/magic-coloring-book-no-wait-i-didnt.html"> previous sketch</a> as a reference point I started modelling and texturing Mirko's warAxe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It took me an entire day for both. (I think I need some food right now)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For texturing I've used (actually learned) the awesome MARI 3d Painting package. (from The Foundry)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Is absolutely brilliant!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know I changed a little bit the design but lately I've been inspired so much by Skyrim!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cheers!</div>

First PassIn order to continue my journey through the human anatomy...I tried to sculpt from scratch and <b>without</b> any references a human torso.<br />
The cool thing about this is that I also used the super new feature of zbrush: dynaMesh!<br />
<br />
Visit <a href="http://www.pixologic.com/">www.pixologic.com</a> for more infos on dynaMesh.<br />
<br />
Anyway....here is after 1h of dynaMesh *still w.i.p. :<br />

That's actually me.<br />
Since everybody is asking: NO this one has not been photoflied.<br />
This is just a quick sculpt I did in zBrush.<br />

Okay guys,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've finally arranged some time to study the full human anatomy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This will be almost designed to improve myself as a character rigger. Why? Because to proper deform a computer generated human / creature the more we know about anatomy the better.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So here we go, back to school again.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As a starting point I've decided to purchase this book, which covers almost every muscle using a 3d sculpting software called zBrush.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxkX_v6r-B_g5VnrUgUOFN-RZeK1Zn421tJehfF6W4SBMkF25QH23pkd5ZLLOdpUA9SsGa_5_BNEqJBXwtrPzUmbdrzaVkicy3CAe-rpdUWDLZQgO28I9iqG_pcZd96OnUnsOtqSir4riU/s1600/bookCover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxkX_v6r-B_g5VnrUgUOFN-RZeK1Zn421tJehfF6W4SBMkF25QH23pkd5ZLLOdpUA9SsGa_5_BNEqJBXwtrPzUmbdrzaVkicy3CAe-rpdUWDLZQgO28I9iqG_pcZd96OnUnsOtqSir4riU/s320/bookCover.jpg" width="250" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So stay tuned for updated (if you care of course!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 01:</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The boxed man. Following the first chapters of the book above I've created in Maya a simple boxed human mesh that will be <b>exported </b>and <b>subdivided </b>and then of course <b>sculpted </b>in zBrush:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJyhJ-_w-kEAUC81BabhZS8TG_YwDpfvFajBNaex7TTAypuHnq3QKKjZbJh70WtPlg1zCzc0UM_n2ZXNcWX4KuEPCCNeasevtYq5lpjcYSupksIb1JuLLU18lKFXQRC1bOiik9dTl-Cpqw/s1600/boxedMan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJyhJ-_w-kEAUC81BabhZS8TG_YwDpfvFajBNaex7TTAypuHnq3QKKjZbJh70WtPlg1zCzc0UM_n2ZXNcWX4KuEPCCNeasevtYq5lpjcYSupksIb1JuLLU18lKFXQRC1bOiik9dTl-Cpqw/s320/boxedMan.jpg" width="250" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 02:</b></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The skeleton reference, this is useful when dealing with <b>muscle insertions </b>and boney <b>landmarks</b>. Is a nice little <b>tip</b> I've found at the beginning of the book. Also there are <b>proportion planes</b> took keep track of the general human proportion: <b>height = 8 skulls.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGGfYCVtI_RA-WLj9UOVdEj8wb78ukHvWn8IUaKSaVzR9HIdL-7WvyJua9W9yluHplddeXZ2SzYZH524IgRsn76D8HfUtileShsyo_KmMaU92BKNYMjJJONOllTcSrTBVojkaiHBEBHZH3/s1600/noMaFalloUnIndirizzoEmail1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGGfYCVtI_RA-WLj9UOVdEj8wb78ukHvWn8IUaKSaVzR9HIdL-7WvyJua9W9yluHplddeXZ2SzYZH524IgRsn76D8HfUtileShsyo_KmMaU92BKNYMjJJONOllTcSrTBVojkaiHBEBHZH3/s400/noMaFalloUnIndirizzoEmail1.jpg" width="377" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 03:</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bring everything into <b>zBrush</b>, and we are ready to go. I guess next update <b>will</b> take a while :P (yes I know, this was the easy part)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 04:</b></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is the same mesh after 1 hour of sculpting. Nothing really great, I am still sketching the volumes.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There is also a 4 minute long timelapse.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh I love timelapses! </div>

This is the first attempt on painting the book of spells that each mage is supposed to have.<br />
Nothing fancy...but still....<br />
If any of you is interested on which book it is just follow the following link:<br />

To be honest, the main purpose behind this exercise is to have a proper mesh to build up a realistic auto-rig for hands.<br />
You know.....spread, curl, cup, bulge and grab....standard animation controls.<br />

It shows three guys, actually two friends of mine and myself (the hooded one) dressed up as I imagine us in a role play fantasy game.<br />
The middle one is supposed to be a warrior, the left one is some kind of shaman/druid guy and then me dressed up like a modern-hooded mage.<br />
I'm trying to imaging ourselves as fantasy characters but in a contemporary world.<br />

I wonder how you got here, but I'm glad you are.<br />
Basically on this blog I will publish a bunch of pixels that generally speaking will form an image.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>I am not an artist, not at all.</b><br />
<br />
In my profession (which is more tech/geek/nerd oriented) I deal with a lot<br />
of art though, so I decided to put here some stuff I do in the spare time trying to<br />
mimic the true artists I work with.<br />
It will be digitally achieved both using 3D and 2D techniques.<br />
<br />
Cheers!xtruderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11025134762161114592noreply@blogger.com0
